We’re kicking off September with two book launches featuring local Cardiff-based writers. CAROLE BURNS is an American expat author and creative writing tutor. Her novel The Same Country is a powerful story about family, friendship, race and the risks we take to unravel the truth. Welsh author LOUISE MUMFORD is a good friend of Griffin Books and we’re delighted to be launching her gripping new thriller, The Hotel, which is set in an eerie abandoned hotel perched on steep cliffs on the Welsh coast.
Intensive care doctor and author DR MATT MORGAN returns to Penarth to talk about his fascinating new book One Medicine: how understanding animals can save our lives. And we round off September by welcoming bestselling author VICTORIA HISLOP for an afternoon event celebrating the release of her new novel, The Figurine, which shines a light on the questionable acquisition of cultural treasures and the price people - and countries - will pay to cling on to them.
In October, retired MET police officers MATT JOHNSON and JOHN MURRAY will join us for an eye-opening insight into their new non-fiction book No Ordinary Day: Espionage, betrayal, terrorism, corruption – the truth behind the murder of WPC Yvonne Fletcher.
We were overwhelmed (and delighted) by the popularity of our evening with DAVINA McCALL and DR NAOMI POTTER to mark Menopause Awareness Month this October. Tickets sold out in just eighteen hours and we have a *very* lengthy waiting list for any returns!
And if all of that wasn’t enough, you can join us for tea and cake with the brilliant ELLY GRIFFITHS as she introduces her must-read new novel, The Great Deceiver - the latest instalment in The Brighton Mysteries series which is inspired partly by Elly's grandfather’s life on the stage.
